Christmas is coming!
At Oakwood, we enjoy celebrating Christmas because it's a time when we can especially focus on what Jesus, God's Son, was willing to do to save us. The humility he showed in giving up his place in heaven in order to become one of us. Not just that, but to become a helpless baby. And not just that, but to be concieved: the infinite eternal God, contracted not merely to a human span, but to a single cell. Then to grow and develop, and finally be born. Not just that, either, but to be born in what would be humble circumstances, even for a 'normal' child.
And why was Jesus prepared to go through all of this? Because of his love for us and his willingness to do whatever it took to save us -- and there was no other way!
Christmas is coming!
So, Christmas is coming, and it's time to celebrate. December is always a busy month for us at Oakwood, and this year it's no different. We've just shared the joy of seeing Alžbetka baptised and this month we'll be witnessing Henry's dedication and celebrating Renita's first birthday. And that's before we get to any of the Christmas activities!
So, what is happening at Oakwood Chapel, here in Harlow, for Christmas 2009?
- Saturday 19 December: Family party, from 4.30 p.m. onwards
- Sunday 20 December: Carols by candlelight, at 6.30 p.m., followed by mince pies
- Friday 25 December: Christmas morning service, at 10.45 a.m.
- Thursday 31 December: Watchnight service, starting at 11.30 p.m.
Do come and join us and help us celebrate the first coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
